In The Middle School Scenario, As Per The Case Studies

In the middle school scenario, as per the case studies carried out in this research work, it is very difficult to identify each and every student but is essential to take time and understand individual student needs and devise strategies accordingly. Teachers have mentioned during classroom observations that it is a challenging task to match individual learning goals. They also felt that grouping in the classroom brings in the flexibility needed for mixed-ability classrooms. What works with one group of students might not work with the next, which is why it is important as an educator to have a diverse set of strategies ready for the classroom. They must provide repeated practice in learning to say the sounds in a word slowly e.g French words may be repeated several times sometimes using audio resources. They can provide positive reinforcement for students who do not respond readily or cannot understand concepts quickly and on the other hand they can allow students who master skills more quickly to continue to move through the curricular sequence. Learning styles play a vital role in students’ learning process. When the educational practices exhibit major gaps between teaching and learning, the learning process itself collapses. What may be happening, then, is a basic â€Å"disagreement† between the preferred strategies of teachers and those of students. Teachers must make full efforts to redefine their own teaching methods, keep on providing feedback to the students of various learning approaches, for example, how to work on vocabulary, how to improve reading ability, etc. My work here in this chapter has thus been based upon the composition of students in the class and the numerical percentage of students in different intelligences.
